What is BetaPay? Onchain money that feels like a friend

BetaPay is a non-custodial wallet that lets you send, receive and swap crypto with a simple 10-digit number instead of a 42-character address, with low network fees shown before you pay.

Crypto was supposed to make money easier to move. Instead, most people meet it as a wall of jargon: seed phrases, gas, networks, and addresses that look like 0x8f3C…a91B. One wrong character and your money is gone.

BetaPay exists to fix that. It is a wallet that feels like the payment apps you already use, while keeping you fully in control of your money.

The short version

BetaPay gives every person a friendly 10-digit wallet number. To pay someone, you type their number, see their verified name, and swipe to send. That's it.

  • No 42-character addresses to copy and paste
  • No guessing the fee: you see it before you pay
  • No company holding your coins for you

How is it different from other wallets?

Most wallets show you the raw machinery of the blockchain. BetaPay hides it until you need it.

  1. Numbers, not addresses. Your 10-digit number points to your smart wallet, so friends can pay you the same way they'd text you.
  2. Low fees, shown upfront. Payments run on Plasma, where network fees are low. You pay the fee yourself in XPL, and you see it before you approve. Read more in how network fees work on BetaPay.
  3. Names you can trust. Before money moves, you see who you're paying, with a verified tick.
  4. Your keys, your coins. BetaPay is non-custodial. We never hold your funds, and we can't freeze or move them.

If you can send a text, you can send money on BetaPay.

What can you do with it?

Send and receive stablecoins like USDC and USDT, swap between assets, keep an eye on live markets, and split bills with friends. Everything lives in one calm home screen.

Pay anyone with a number

Type a 10-digit number, check the name, swipe to send. The money lands in about a second and both of you get a notification. Your recent people and favorites sit one tap away, so paying your flatmate back takes less time than finding their address ever did.

Receive without explaining crypto

Share your number the way you would share a phone number: out loud, in a group chat, or on an invoice. Whoever pays you sees your verified name, so they know the money is going to the right place.

Request and split

Dinner for four? Create a request, share the link, and watch each person pay their share. No spreadsheets, no chasing, no "I'll send it later".

Swap and watch markets

Move between stablecoins and other assets inside the app, with the price and the final amount shown before you confirm. Live market cards keep you informed without turning your wallet into a trading screen.

Who is BetaPay for?

BetaPay is for people who want the benefits of onchain money (it moves fast, it works across borders, and you control it) without having to become an expert first.

  • Friends and flatmates who split rent, bills and trips
  • Families sending money home or across borders
  • Freelancers and small businesses who want to be paid with a number instead of a wallet address
  • Curious newcomers who have heard about stablecoins but never knew where to start

If you already use crypto, you'll still notice the difference: a small, clear network fee, no address checking, and a history that shows names instead of strings of characters.

Is it safe?

Your wallet is secured by keys that stay on your device. BetaPay is a software provider, not a bank: we don't custody your money and can't access it. You can read more on our security page.

A few details are built in to protect you on every payment:

  • Name check before you pay. You always see who is on the other end before any money moves.
  • Swipe to send. A deliberate gesture means nothing goes out by accident.
  • Clear costs. The review screen shows the amount, the network, the fee and the arrival time, in plain English.
  • Hide your balance. One tap blurs your balance when you're out in public.

What it costs

Creating a wallet is free. Each payment has a small network fee, paid by you in XPL on Plasma, and the review screen shows it before you approve. When you swap between assets, you see the rate and the final amount before you confirm, with no surprises afterwards.
